Mamihlapinatapai

Mamihlapinatapai (sometimes spelled mamihlapinatapei) is a word from the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego, listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the "most succinct word", and is considered one of the hardest words to translate. It describes "a look shared by two people with each wishing that the other will initiate something that both desire but which neither one wants to start." ***

I first came across this word on my friend's multiply blog. It was funny sounding, so I went on to read the entire journal entry. I just can't help but smile as I read it. I told myself sapul! Cue one of my favorite Eraserheads song:

"WALANG DAPAT IPAGTAKA, AKO AY PINANGANAK NA TORPE
DIYAN SA TABI TABI
PASENSYA NA"

How many times could this have happened to me? That was the question that hovered in my mind. Ten times? Fifty times? A hundred? I can't say. But this definitely happened to me A LOT OF TIMES. Yes people, despite my apparent strong personality, NERBYOSO ako. Haha there. If eye contact flirting was a crime, then I would have been long put into jail. Even when I'm having my alcohol fix, just the thought of introducing myself to some random girl is enough para mawala yung lasing ko. That's how nerbyoso I am. Many times than not, I go home thinking "sayang, nakikipag titigan at ngitian na e" I know that even if the girl is interested too, she won't make a move until I do so. But, just to stress my point NERBYOSO nga ako. So there, an undending cycle of MAMIHLAPINATAPAI.

This is my favorite word for the moment, as it is undeniably a common occurence in my life. But I don't want it to define me forever, so I know I have to find a way to break this jinx. NERBYOSO? MAMIHLAPINATAPAI?? KAMPAI!!!

Head on over to the stopover.

Finally, I got around in creating my own blog. The sensible blogs will soon follow, but for my first entry here, I want you all to know (I'm assuming that someone will read this eventually) what to expect in my blogger page - and also some bit of warnings if you will.

1. This is my page - not anyone else's. I will blog about whatever I want, whenever I want.
2. If you have something to say, feel free to comment. However, if your comment gets my ire, I will curse you until the day I can't curse anymore. Lol.
3. Hindi lang puro English ang isusulat ko dito, mahirap ang laging may katabing dictionary habang nagba-blog.
4. This will be a "maskipaps" blog. As what I've said, I'll be blogging about anything under the sun. Most of the times, I will try to keep things light, but there will always be a time that I will feel the need to write some serious stuff. (Dapat nasa number 1 din to, pero nakalimutan ko ilagay)
5. Since it is my first venture in blogging, expect that my layout will look terrible, and my entries will not be perfect and this will not be one of the most popular blogs around. But please, if there's anything you can teach me, just leave a comment. Or mail me. Ask me for my mail. (no, i'm not demanding at all hehe)
6. I will be posting links of other bloggers whose blogs I find interesting. Madaming magaling magsulat diyan sa tabi-tabi.
7. Mahihilo kayo minsan dahil talaga namang napaka-gulo ng isipan ko. But doesn't that make things more interesting?
8. I will use this blog to try and attract girls. Haha biro lang. Kayo naman oh (wala lang ako maisulat na pang number 8)
9. There will be times that my beliefs/ principles won't match with some of yours. Just remember that: for each, his/her own.
10. I will definitely have fun blogging, I just hope you too will have fun reading my blogs.
11. Lastly, I am a registered nurse - so I may (the operative word is "may") post some health related stuff in this blogsite. Questions? Feel free to ask.

All for now people!
